Joshua Alade Express Joy Over Chevening Scholarship Awards

With immense gratitude, I am excited to share that I have accepted an offer for an MSc in Sustainable Development at the University of Bradford. Also, I have been selected for Chevening Awards by the Uk government.

Six years ago, I followed my passion for social change and positive youth development after graduating from the University of Lagos with a bachelor’s in Cell Biology and Genetics.

My dream for holistic youth engagement started Nigeria Youth SDGs Network in 2017. In fact, I had to quit my job at a multinational in 2019 because I wanted to contribute more towards nation-building. Working with young people across Nigeria over the last four years and seeing the myriad challenges they have to overcome inspired my journey towards a master’s degree at Bradford.

I am grateful to everyone whom God has used to bless my life until today. I am indebted to a lot of people – amazing and inspiring individuals who have stood by me especially when it seemed like I didn’t know what I was doing. I am thankful for your love and the grace that you have extended towards me.

There have been times I have had to question my existence and wondered if I could ever make any contribution to this world. I have had pains that just very few people know. My life has been hard and this is why I am thankful for my strong faith in Jesus Christ. Waking up to the blessedness of God’s word and remembering that I matter to God has been a strong push for my life.

I hope that my life would be able to inspire someone to believe in themselves and know that every test you face is making you stronger. I am doing this for my dad, my late mom, and late brother, my sisters, and their children. I pray that my cousins will dare to dream just like me and achieve the big potential that God has given to them.

Thank you to my darling wife Adenike Alade she’s the only one who gets me. I love you and I am excited that we are doing life together.
